Try God and Find Love❤️
🍮 Cheesecake is one of my all-time favorite desserts. So much so that my mother makes me one from scratch every year on my birthday.
🤔While that’s the case, I grew up hating cheesecake even though I had never tasted it.
🧀My reason being was that it was not what I thought it was. I incorrectly made an assumption that cheesecake tasted like queso.
🤦🏾♂️Since that was the case, I concluded, “while I enjoy nachos, that really does not give dessert vibes.” Because of that assumption, I’d always pass over cheesecake for a different dessert.
⛹🏽♂️It was not until I was in high school, and one of my athletic role models growing up came over to our house for the holidays.
🥇Cheesecake was his top 2 all-time desserts, and it wasn’t 2! When Mama Graham pulled out her homemade cheesecake, topped with cherries, his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree.
😱After crushing 2 pieces, my mother could tell how much he loved cheesecake, so she boxed the remaining cake up for him to take with him.
🤷🏾♂️Before she did, I thought, “my basketball role model loves cheesecake. It seems odd to enjoy a dessert that tastes like cheese, but since someone I respect and admire feels so strongly about it, maybe I should just try it.”
🤯You must understand, I am a foodie, so after taking my first bite of Mama Graham’s cheesecake, my food life was forever changed.
👀I loved it, and that was the day, like my hoops hero, cheesecake became one of my dessert go-to’s.
😔While I was delighted by the dessert, I also felt deprived, as I could have been enjoying cheesecake my entire life, but I hadn’t because I disliked it, even though I never tried it.
‼️Being the foodie that I am, my dessert palate is vital. However, what’s even more vital is your spiritual connection and relationship with Your Creator, God.
🙌🏾When you know God, like I know Him, you develop a love, dependence, neediness to always be with Him. You, like my basketball hero, place God in your top 2, and like my hero with his cheesecake, He ain’t 2!
👀Since that’s the case, if you have yet to connect deeply and authentically with God because you have not tried Him, out of love for you, I pray and gently urge you to, as it states in Psalm 34:8, taste and see that the Lord is good, real, loving, trustworthy, empowering, and life-changing!
❓Are you ready to try Him? As you wrestle with that, consider this: while it costs you nothing to try a taste to see if God is real, it may cost you everything - the life you desire and were created to live, if you don’t try Him out.
