While the world attempts to keep and hold your receipts over your head, Jesus' blood paid the price to premaritally delete all of your receipts.
The world will attempt to define you by the old you, the you at your absolute worst, but God says yesterday's you was left in yesterday. He paid a hefty price to erase the receipts of the old you's embarrassment.
As we've navigated through life, most of us have either pulled out our receipts on someone that has wronged us, or we've had another pull out our receipts of shame and failure.
Could you imagine if God gave us that same receipt energy about our wrongs toward Him? If that was the case, we'd all be destined for a one-way trip to hell.
Fortunately for us, God, while being well within his rights to keep our shameful, selfish, deceitful, and disobedient receipts, chose instead to spare the blood of Jesus and delete our receipts permanently.
Since that's the case, I encourage you to:
1) Let go of some of those receipts of others that you have been tightly holding onto. "Why would I do that, Nick," you might be asking. My response is not because they deserve it, but erase them because you don't deserve for God to delete your receipts, but He did.
Since God did not give you what you deserved—a one-way ticket to hell—and instead deleted your receipts, the least you can do is pay it forward and let go of some of your friends, your neighbors, your family members, or even someone you do not get along with, receipts! In fact, you are commanded to - Matthew 6:14-15 - Colossians 3:13
2) The blood of Jesus is expensive, in fact, it is the most expensive thing in the history of the world. Let that sink in. God spared no expense to delete your receipts! Since that's the case, we must accept that God did spare Jesus' blood to forget what you are still holding on to.
Let it go! I know there are many in your life that will continue to hold receipts over you. If that's the case, remember, God's word tells us not that we cannot serve two masters! Matthew 6:24 - New Living Translation - Matthew 6:24 The Message
Question, who's your master? Those who are holding your receipts over your head, or the loving and merciful God that spared the precious blood of Jesus to delete your receipts? Whomever you decide is your master is the only One you should allow to influence how you feel about your past.
God - your Master says: Isaiah 1:18 - New Living Translation 18 "Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.
Psalm 103:12 New Living Translation - He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.
Jeremiah 31:34 - New Living Translation - … says the Lord. "And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins."
"Be sure not to allow people to make your issue your identity. You did it, you are not it." - Mike Todd -
