I was going through my iPhone notes earlier and ran across this prayer I prayed in 2018!
I remember writing this prayer out as I was in the midst of writing my first book, God X Basketball. In my second book, Underdog, I begin with a powerful quote by T.S. Elliott:
"If you aren't in over your head, how do you know how tall you are?"
That's where I was when I prayed this. I was in over my head, scared, overwhelmed, not supported, alienated and dismissed. I was traveling the country to raise money for the book, living out of suitcases and often sleeping in cars to save money.
The Power of Going All In 💪
As I look back, I am in awe of how powerful God is and recognize that similar to Eliot's quote:
If you aren't in over your head, how will you ever know how big God is?
Or, as it related to my prayed prayer:
If you never go all in with and for God, you will never realize He is all you need.
The Ripple Effect of Faith 🌊
Just the other day, someone reached out to me to share that as they endure chemotherapy, my books have been the source of hope, encouragement and strength that is getting them through! Thankfully for her, I trusted God enough to know that when I push all my chips of faith in and placed complete trust in God, that while it feels uncomfortable it was not a gamble at all.
A Prayer for You 🙌
As you continue on, I pray this prayer over you and ask you to accept God's truths which lead you to give God all of your chips (Resources, Talent, Time, Money, Heart & Soul) and watch Him win big not just for you, but more importantly through you!
Parting Power Thoughts 💭
To have faith is to write a check that only God can cash, knowing that while your funds are insufficient, when you are obediently following his plan He got you covered.
God's plan contradicts what you may sometimes feel - while it may feel scary, His word promises his path is always safe.
